Cocoa Planting
The cacao planting at Hacienda San Pedrito began on January 28, 2019.
Since then we have planted about 700
cacao grafts.
thanks largely in part to chocolate forteza, and our participation in the Specialty Crops Grant.

We have adjusted to the needs of the terrain to create our cacao farm.
The plantation can be divided into 3 types:
Shady areas with fruit trees
Areas without previous shade, where we've planted plantains and Carbonero trees to create shade
Forest areas where we have cleaned by hand between existing Trees.

cacao grafts were planted in 7 lots throughout 2019.
Trees have already begun showing signs of progress. in many we have observed flowers and small cacao beans.
We expect our first official harvest to occur in late 2021.

In addition to cacoa grafts, at the Hacienda we have sown criollos, trinitarios, amelonados and camaleon varieties.
These grew from seeds in our temporary greenhouse as part of an experimental lot.
