Alejandra M. Rodríguez Delgado is a visionary first-generation entrepreneur in the world of specialty coffee and fine aromatic cacao. As the owner of Hacienda San Pedrito and Finca María Luisa, in the mountains of Lares, Puerto Rico, she has challenged traditional perceptions of low-altitude coffee and positioned Robusta as a key player in the specialty coffee industry.

With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in geology and eight years of experience in the oil industry, Alejandra took a bold leap—choosing to invest in her homeland and her passion. She transformed her farm into a hub of agricultural innovation, combining science and tradition to push the boundaries of coffee excellence. Her dedication to quality and education has led her to become a Q-Grader Arabica and Q-Processing Level 2 (CQI), while also traveling the world in search of knowledge, gaining experience in Colombia, the U.S., Portugal, and Africa.

Beyond producing exceptional coffee and cacao, her farm is built on sustainable and regenerative practices that enhance crop resilience, promote soil conservation, and create habitats for diverse species—proving that high-quality agriculture and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand. She also pioneers fermentation techniques that highlight Puerto Rico’s unique terroir in a safe and innovative way, ensuring an outstanding and healthy final product for her customers.

In 2024, Alejandra amazed international coffee professionals with a washed-process coffee that scored an average of 89, peaking at 94. Tasters were stunned by its berry, plum, peach, and citrus notes, all coming from a coffee grown at 1,400’ (427m) above sea level—shattering the misconceptions of altitude and quality.
